The whole story — from the battered short boards of my childhood, to Balance in 2008, Clash in 2012, and everything we've learned on the way to the Enlightenment 2.0.
The beginning
As a kid I rode short, battered boards that were never quite right — too small, too heavy, always fighting me. But every gusty afternoon taught me something. I learned to read the wind before I learned to read the water, chasing that first feeling of lift and never letting it go.
Those early boards planted an obsession that never left: the stubborn idea that a board could always be lighter, faster, and more alive under your feet. I just didn't know yet that I'd spend my life proving it.
2008 · Balance
By 2008 the obsession finally had a name. Balance was my first serious attempt to build something shaped around how I actually rode — not how a catalogue said I should. It was rough around the edges, hand-finished in a small workshop, but it flew.
Balance taught me one thing that still guides everything we do: a rider who builds for riders makes different decisions. We chased lightness, we chased pop, and we listened to every single person who tried it.
2012 · Clash
Where Balance was a promise, Clash was the answer. We moved to a paulownia wood core — light, alive, endlessly forgiving — and wrapped it in carbon and aerospace-grade resin. The outlines got straighter and more deliberate, tuned for upwind drive and a clean, explosive pop.
Clash wasn't just a better board; it was a statement about how a board should feel: quick, confident, and ready for anything the session throws at it.
The advances
We refined the flex until it loaded and released like a spring. We built a UV anti-scratch top sheet so a board could survive seasons, not months. We obsessed over the details — the exact rocker, the rail shape, the weight of the inserts — because those details are what you feel at the end of a long day on the water.
We tested in real conditions, with real riders, and rebuilt whatever didn't hold up. Nothing shipped until it earned its place.
Today · Enlightenment 2.0
Which brings us here — the Enlightenment 2.0, made in Heaven. It carries everything since those first short boards: a recycled paulownia core, engineered fiber and carbon sheets, and electronics that track your sessions and your progression.
It's built for freeride and Big Air, for the rider who wants a board that keeps up with their ambition. The obsession that started on that beach is still here — in every single layer. This is only the beginning of the next chapter. Thank you for riding it with us.
